It is the age old question. Are we doing this for ourselves or for our kids? It is a question that for so many of us is uncomfortable. Because we want to buy things for our children for SO many reasons. We didn't have it as a child, we always had it as a child, they didn't have it when I was a child and the list goes on in our motivations as parents.
Well I did have dresses that twirled as a child. I wish my mother had saved some of them. Thus the saving of clothes that is going on right now. From time to time I am forced to ask myself is this for me or her and from time to time the answers are different but in the end my last question is always will it hurt her, make no difference or help her get into MIT. If it is the latter two I get it and let the rest go. Because in the end I want her to be educated and see herself as a sum of all parts that equals good.
